Notre Dame College Presents Communication Forum
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio— 20 February 2009 —Notre Dame College presents its fourth annual Women’s Leadership Forum on Wednesday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The forum highlights Women in Communication and features four local leaders in a variety of communication experiences.
Plain Dealer Editor Susan Goldberg and Diane Roman Fusco, director of public relations at Safeguard Properties join television writer and producer, Michelle Redmond, and author Sr. Melannie Svoboda on the panel. Redmond and Svoboda are Notre Dame College alumnae.
Susan Goldberg was named editor of The Plain Dealer in May 2007. She came to Cleveland after serving as executive editor of the San Jose Mercury News from 2003-2007. She also held leadership positions at USA Today and the Detroit Free Press. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism at Michigan State University.
Diane Roman Fusco serves as Director of Public Relations for Safeguard Properties, the largest mortgage field services company in the U.S, where her responsibilities include media relations, brand development and community relations. She has more than 25 years experience in communication management, public relations, corporate, and crisis communication.
Michelle Redmond is a staff producer and writer for the Discovery Production Group where she has recently produced segments for the Miss USA Pageant and Discovery Health Network’s “Mystery ER.” She has served in the production department of Discovery Communications, working on Animal Planet, the Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, Discovery Times and Discovery Health networks. She has also freelanced for the Oprah Winfrey and Tyra Banks shows.
Sr. Melannie Svoboda, SND, has published nine books and is a nationally known speaker, retreat facilitator and parish missions director. Sr. Melannie has been a freelance writer for over 30 years with articles appearing in numerous publications including America, Review for Religious and Catholic Digest.
The discussion is moderated by Sr. Eileen Quinlan, SND, Ph.D., associate professor of English and a Notre Dame College alumna. The Women’s Leadership Forum was established in 2005 to celebrate Notre Dame’s heritage as a women’s college and its commitment to promoting the education and advancement of women. It brings women in leadership positions to campus to engage students, alumni and friends in in-depth discussions. Past forums featured women in politics, law and business.
The Women’s Leadership Forum is free and open to the public.
