Notre Dame College Hosts Identity Theft Talk

SOUTH EUCLID, OHIO—24 March 2009—Notre Dame College is holding a program to address the growing problem of identity theft on Tuesday, March 31, at 6:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. The South Euclid Police Department and United States Secret Service will also participate in the presentation.

It is said that it is possible to “steal more with a pen than with a gun,” and even more with a computer. Experts estimate that the average identity theft victim must spend a minimum of 200 hours trying to restore his or her credit and repairing financial damage caused by charges made in their names.

Patrolman Troy Auzenne of the Notre Dame College Safety and Security Department says, “The discussions will help people learn what to do to avoid being a victim, and what you must do if you do become a victim of this rapidly increasing crime.” Auzenne specializes in crime prevention and identity theft.

Detective David Volek of the South Euclid Police Department and a representative from the U.S. Secret Service will discuss Theft and Crimes/Scams Against the Elderly.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Notre Dame College is located at 4545 College Road in South Euclid. For more information contact Chief Michael Dugan at 216.373.5407 or mdugan@ndc.edu.
