Notre Dame College Explores
The Human Face of History

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio—17 November 2009—Notre Dame College’s Abrahamic Center will host a special program and book-signing entitled “The Human Face of History,” on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the College’s Performing Arts Center. The event features Holocaust survivor Eva Broessler Weissman and Gregory Moore, Ph.D., authors of “The War Came to Me: A Story of Endurance and Survival,” newly published by University Press of America. The book tells the story of courageous and compassionate Dutch citizens who helped two young Austrian sisters avoid deportation to the death camps where they almost certainly would have perished.

Eva Broessler Weissman escaped from Vienna, Austria to the Netherlands in 1939. With the help of a family that removed her from danger, she avoided arrest and acted as a courier in the Dutch resistance until the end of the Nazi occupation. After World War II, she moved to the United States, where she devoted her life to working with nonprofit organizations.

Dr. Gregory Moore is associate professor of history and political science at Notre Dame College. He received his doctorate in history from Kent State University. Moore currently serves as chair of the Department of History and Political Science and as director of the Center for Intelligence Studies at Notre Dame College.
