Bishop Pilla Awarded Notre Dame College Medal

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio—12 May 2009—Notre Dame College (NDC) announced its selection of Most Reverend Anthony M. Pilla, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Cleveland, as its recipient of the Notre Dame College Medal. The Medal will be presented at a dinner Saturday evening, June 6 at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven.

The Medal is awarded to an alumnus, friend of the College or civic leader in the Greater Cleveland community who, in the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame, exemplifies the College’s mission to educate a diverse population “for personal, professional and global responsibility.”

The award dinner is chaired by Samuel H. Miller, co-chairman and treasurer of Forest City Enterprises, and co-chaired by Len Calabrese, president, Catholic Community Connection; Vincent Campanella, CEO of the Northern Ohio Italian American (NOIA) Foundation and founder of Orion Consulting; Diane Roman Fusco, director of public relations for Safeguard Properties; and Nacy Panzica, chairman of Panzica Construction Company.

Bishop Pilla is the second recipient of the award. Dr. Andrew Roth, president of NDC remarked, “Notre Dame College is privileged to thank Bishop Pilla publicly for his steadfast support of Catholic higher education and his work to help make education accessible to disadvantaged students. He has worked closely with Notre Dame to help many of our students achieve their dreams of a college education.”
