Notre Dame College Receives Presidential Honor

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio—4 June 2008—Notre Dame College has been named to The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The College and its students, faculty, staff and alumni have been recognized for helping to build a culture of service and civic engagement in our nation.

According to Brian Emerson, associate dean for student affairs at Notre Dame College, “We are particularly honored to receive this award because it recognizes Notre Dame’s general commitment to community service. The many areas of the institution that are involved in service include the athletics department, campus ministry & Falcon Corps, student clubs and organizations, and classes such as those in our nursing program. This award honors each area of the College that has contributed to our culture of service.”                                      

The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, launched in 2006, recognizes colleges and universities nationwide that support innovative and effective community service and service-learning programs. The Honor Roll is a program of the Corporation for National and Community Service, and is sponsored by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, the USA Freedom Corps, and the U.S. Departments of Education and Housing and Urban Development.
