Notre Dame College Breaks Ground for new Residence Hall

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio—28 March 2008—Notre Dame College is breaking ground for its first new residence hall in 41 years. The groundbreaking takes place when Board Chair Joan McCarthy and President Andrew Roth take their shovels to the earth Monday, March 31 at 9:30 a.m. Mayor Georgine Welo is slated to assist in the undertaking, marking the new era of growth at the South Euclid College.

The new “North Hall” will join existing residences, Harks Hall and Providence Hall. It will house 84 students and represents an upgrade in amenities, with apartment-like housing. Each unit will include a common area, kitchenette and four bedrooms.

Dr. Andrew Roth stated, “The growth in our student body has forced us to grow in many ways. We have added classrooms, faculty and staff, but now we have run out of housing for our resident students. North Hall is the beginning of a two-phase expansion of our student residence facilities; we look forward to breaking ground for a larger residence hall after commencement later this spring.” The larger hall, located on the campus’ southeast corner, will accommodate up to 204 students in the preferred apartment-like housing.

Added parking will accommodate an additional 215 cars.

The contractor for the projects is Donley’s. Costs for the residence halls and parking are projected to be $15 million.
