What happens when the story teller scheduled to appear bumps his head while trying to skateboard onstage for his entrance. Nonsense and mangled logic reign supreme as anything goes in an evening of story telling and Disney songs performed by the NDC Choir under the direction of Sr. Karita Ivancic. Great for the whole family.

LION IN WINTER, James Goldman's witty and fiery comic drama pits the world's first Power Couple Henry II of England and his estranged Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine against each other. Throw in their ambitious, rebellious sons Richard the Lion Hearted, King John and Geoffrey of Brittany, then add Lady Alyss of Vexin and her little brother Philip II Augustus of France and you have the ultimate historical dysfunctional family. It's a veritable Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf  meets King Lear ... It's Bill being Bill ... It's Hillary, before we meet Hillary ... And perhaps there's a fresh face on the horizon.   Nothing like political family quarrels to warm us up for the Presidential campaign season.

And you think politics is dysfunctional now??!

ADMISSION IS FREE.

The Festival Of The Arts

"From the Inside Out"
Spring Arts Collaboration

From The Inside Out

Dates: Friday April 25, 2008 at 7 p.m.
Location: Performing Arts Center

This festival of the arts developed from conversations between Sr. Mary Karita Ivancic and the team teachers of AR/EN 291: The Artist’s Journal, Professor Rachel Morris and Dr. Amy Kesegich. The aim of this course was to explore our college’s mission of developing personal, professional and global responsibility through visual and verbal imagery.

Thus, the program, “From the Inside Out,” reflects the movement from self-understanding to personal involvement in the greater community. Students from the Artist’s Journal Class developed the images and text on display using calligraphy, stamping, printing, collage and other techniques. These students, together with poets from Dr. Kesegich’s creative writing class, members of the poetry club and participating faculty, wrote verses that also express these themes. Sr. Karita and her choir prepared selections to compliment the artistic creations and celebrate the mission of Notre Dame College.

The Clara Fritzsche Library Presents:

From the Ancient Center
Mandala Drawings and
Metal Sculptures
by Christine Siarka

April 7th through May 27th 2005

Mandala Drawings & Metal Sculptures

Opening reception: Thursday, April 7, 7-9 pm. Music by Still Inertia with Mike Williams and Amanda North. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome!
Gallery talk: 7:30 pm. The artist will lead visitors through a walking meditation while completing a sculpture installation by adding rings of river stones or metal discs.

Siarka’s current work with mandalas in drawings and metal sculpture was inspired by a desire to combine her practice of meditation with the line and shape found through walks in Ohio ’s natural spaces. The three-dimensional mandalas consist of stone in the form of found objects and metal. The metals are manipulated in color through combinations of patinas. The form and texture of the metal is altered to balance the rock’s natural shape, surface and color.
