Teacher Education Earns High Marks from State of Ohio

Notre Dame College’s teacher education programs have been recognized by the Ohio Board of Regents for meeting and exceeding several state performance metrics.

In its first comprehensive ratings for educator preparation programs, the Board of Regents notes all 189 Notre Dame College students who took the teacher licensure test passed the exam.

The College was cited as one of only two institutions in Northeast Ohio to earn a 100 percent teacher licensure exam passage rate for 2010-2011, the most recent year for which the state has made ratings available.

The state report notes that all of the Notre Dame College newly licensed teachers employed in the state of Ohio add value by helping their students reach annual progress goals.

Additionally, Notre Dame-prepared teachers are lauded in the report for working in schools considered in academic emergency and on academic watch and in educational institutions that serve high poverty and high minority student populations.

In the state performance ratings, Notre Dame student teachers also highly rank the education they received at the College.
