Notre Dame College’s teacher education programs have been recognized by the Ohio Board of Regents for meeting and exceeding several state performance metrics.

The Notre Dame Wrestling Falcons have been a national powerhouse in small-college wrestling for several years. But the 2010 and 2011 NAIA and 2012 National Collegiate Wrestling Association national champions are now officially on the radar of NCAA Division II coaches, fans and media outlets.

Notre Dame College students and faculty will present the play “The Laramie Project” at 7 p.m. March 19, 21 and 23 in the Performing Arts Center on the ground floor of the College’s Administration Building.

The theatre production, written by Moises Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theatre Project, features more than 200 interviews and direct testimonials from the citizens of Laramie, Wyo., in the wake of the beating death of Matthew Shepard, a homosexual student.

Notre Dame College’s Clara Fritzsche Library will host “The Storyteller,” a showing of paintings, portraits, masks and jewelry by Cleveland artist Anna Arnold from February 14 through March 22. The exhibit opens with a reception from 6-8 p.m. February 14 in the library.

The exhibit and opening reception are free to the public.

Notre Dame College and The Musical Theater Project will present “The Making of Carousel,” a nostalgic and fun-filled, multimedia concert that provides a behind-the-scenes look at Richard Rodgers’ beloved Broadway musical on Sunday, January 20, at 3 p.m. in Regina Auditorium. Featured in the chorus will be the NDC Choir under the direction of Sr. Mary Karita Ivancic.

Of all his musicals, composer Richard Rodgers considered Carousel his favorite. He’s not alone: the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein masterwork is one of the most beloved shows ever produced on Broadway. “The Making of Carousel” will tell the story of its creation and feature in-concert performance of the musical’s songs.

Notre Dame College (NDC) announced today that it has received the largest donation in its 90-year history. Normandy Catering has made a commitment of $2.075 million over 10 years, with $1.75 million in cash earmarked for the College’s annual fund, student financial aid, and support of the College’s general building and construction initiatives. There is an additional $325,000 in-kind component to the gift. The College has received three gifts of half a million dollars or more in the past eight months.

Notre Dame College and the Renee Jones Empowerment Center will host the 2013 Northeast Ohio National Human Trafficking Day Conference that addresses human trafficking, the worldwide crime against humanity and growing form of 21st Century human slavery, in its many forms and manifestations.
