Assessment

Notre Dame College seeks to integrate academics, student life, campus ministry and athletics into a coherent student experience where student learning and development occurs inside and outside of the classroom. 

After successful completion of a mission driven curriculum; Core curriculum, academic majors, minors, and programs, and participation in campus activities, students at Notre Dame College will have completed coursework and experiences designed to assist them in developing the skills, attitudes and dispositions needed to succeed in professional roles or  in graduate school as well as to live responsible lives.

Assessment at Notre Dame College is an ongoing process of identifying the areas of strength as well as the areas where improvement is needed to reach our goal of educating a diverse population of students, in the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame, for personal, professional and global responsibility.  The assessment process includes:

  • Establishing clear, measureable expected outcomes for student learning
  • Ensuring that students have sufficient opportunities to achieve those outcomes
  • Systematically gathering, analyzing, and interpreting evidence to determine how well student learning matches expectations
  • Using the resulting information to understand and improve student learning

Strategic Goals

Active involvement in student learning outcome assessment aligns with the mission, vision and guiding principles identified in our strategic plan.  Key initiatives addressed through program-level student learning outcomes assessment include:

  • Ongoing  program review
  • Development of an academic master plan
  • Development of  a campus culture of assessment and continuous improvement
  • Improve the persistence and graduation of NDC students
