Floodlight Madness Sweeps Notre Dame
With faces painted, noise makers in hand, and the Notre Dame Pep Band swinging, supporters of the men’s soccer team descended on Korb Field in Lyndhurst, Ohio for a match between the Falcons and the Mt. Vernon Nazarene Cougars in the first ever Floodlight Madness event on September 25, 2007.
Over 300 people attended the event sponsored by the NDC Departments of Athletics and Campus Activities.
Safety Forces Engage in Critical Incident Drill
Campus Police, local safety forces and student volunteers came together on Notre Dame College’s campus on August 8, 2007 for the second in a series of exercises designed to improve the College’s level of emergency preparedness.
According to campus police chief Mike Dugan “This drill elevates us to a new level of preparation and cooperation. In conducting an analysis of our performance, it was agreed that things went remarkably well.”
College Hosts Intelligence Colloquium
Notre Dame College hosted the Ninth Annual International Colloquium on Intelligence the July 9-12, 2007 sponsored by the Great Lakes Regional Chapter of the International Association for Intelligence Education.
The theme of the colloquium was Teaching Intelligence: Setting Standards.
The colloquium featured speakers from a number of colleges and universities along with highly regarded experts from the intelligence field including retired CIA officer Clare Lopez ’76, and Lieutenant Commander (USNR, ret.) Michael Goldstein.
Notre Dame Revives
Freshman Tradition
The College began the academic year
with an Opening Convocation held in
the Keller Center’s Murphy Gymnasium
on August 26, 2007.
The Convocation, which has not
been practiced since the late 1990s,
included an Academic Investiture during
which the freshmen were conferred with
a pin bearing the seal of Notre Dame
College. This was followed by a
celebration of Mass, officiated by Father
Edward Mehok.
Dyslexia Presentation Puts Humanity First
Over 90 educators, students and parents of children
with learning differences attended a presentation by
internationally known learning disabilities speaker
Shirley Kurnoff titled Learning Differences and
Dyslexia-A Journey of Discovery on October 12, 2007
at Notre Dame.
Presented by Notre Dame’s Academic Support
Center, the program was sponsored by The Learning
Brook, Notre Dame College and Schwab Learning. It
focused on the human aspects of dyslexia including the
effects on siblings, parents and the students themselves.
